Interview with Sports Journalist Veronica Commey

A respected name in Sports Journalism in Ghana, Veronica Commey continues to excel in a field. In this interview with me , she talks breaking through and having her first shot at what was an otherwise tough and strict turf, tight working schedules, ethos of the profession, and relationship among other exciting revelations. “The bad thing about it all is that I do not have a life,” she says … “I don’t go to the club … because when i’m not working, i’m at home.” Q. How many years have you been practicing as a sports journalist? A. It’s been a lot of years; it makes me feel like I’m old already.  I have done this for six years. My service was over in 2005, and just weeks after that I got employed at the Ghana News Agency, where I did my service. So I have actually been going up and down for six years. Q. Does it pay to be a journalist in Ghana? A. It doesn’t. I keep saying that. I never thought it will pay this little. But what’s been the driving force, is my passion, ...

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH LIVE FM'S JEREMIE

A few weeks ago , I interviewed Jeremie at Live FM premises . It focused on joining Live FM after being part of the Y FM family for five years , her relationship with Jay Foley and other issues . It’s been some two months since you joined Live FM. How has the experience been like? A. Awesome Q. How awesome? A. Awesome meaning I wanted a challenge;  i wanted to try something new and that’s exactly what this is. Even though it’s still family and it’s not exactly totally and completely new because this is Vibe and i used to be at Vibe so it’s like coming back home. On the other hand the experience is totally different because on Y Fm I was doing three hours in the evening. Here, I am doing the drive which is more challenging. I am the only female in Ghana doing the drive at the moment and that’s like a huge task. And so I have learnt a lot; am growing more and am reaching a much larger audience and it’s awesome. That’s exactly what I was looking for. Q. What influenc...

MY INTERVIEW WITH SKILLIONS RECORDS ACT PAAPA

I had a chat with Paapa a couple of weeks ago at the Skillions Records studio where we talked about his schooling , music , up coming concert and other matters .  How difficult or easy is it combining school and music? Let’s just say I’ve always liked to be the jack of all trades ….. master of jacks doing many different things so right from SOS that’s where I went to secondary school in Tema, I developed skill of  not multi tasking but being able to do so many things at the same time. I will be in school then I will go and lead the choir and then lead the band and go and be a prefect and do all this different things. And I guess I developed some level of discipline and focus so with each task that I’m doing I’m fully present in that task so I don’t have  a lot of distractions. When people ask what I do for fun I don’t know what to say (laughs), I really don’t know what to say. What I do for fun is what I do in my life, like my life should be fun. when I’m in cl...
