INTERVIEW: Caroline Sampson talks YFM & ‘Y Lounge’

When Caroline Sampson took over as host of YFM’s “Y Lounge” after Jeremie had left to pitch camp at Live FM, she viewed it as a challenge. The multi talented mother of one, has told enewsgh.com in an interview that “Compared to what I was doing earlier, which was  Room Service  it’s a bit challenging because  you know it’s not late night where you know that not a lot of people …. like you’re not even sure who and who are listening but right after drive is another peak period on radio.” “And I mean I had Jeremie doing this for five years and I had to take over so yeah definitely it was a little bit challenging because I didn’t know how I was going to fit into those shoes that she left and also how people are going to accept me and all that…” Has she been able to have a hold on the show yet? “I would say so … I mean we hear what people say all the time. Social media is also there, you are able to check who and who are listening and then we ask around. And I think I...

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH LIVE FM'S JEREMIE

A few weeks ago , I interviewed Jeremie at Live FM premises . It focused on joining Live FM after being part of the Y FM family for five years , her relationship with Jay Foley and other issues . It’s been some two months since you joined Live FM. How has the experience been like? A. Awesome Q. How awesome? A. Awesome meaning I wanted a challenge;  i wanted to try something new and that’s exactly what this is. Even though it’s still family and it’s not exactly totally and completely new because this is Vibe and i used to be at Vibe so it’s like coming back home. On the other hand the experience is totally different because on Y Fm I was doing three hours in the evening. Here, I am doing the drive which is more challenging. I am the only female in Ghana doing the drive at the moment and that’s like a huge task. And so I have learnt a lot; am growing more and am reaching a much larger audience and it’s awesome. That’s exactly what I was looking for. Q. What influenc...

JEREMIE'S ADVICE TO MUSICIANS : MAKE GOOD USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA TO PROMOTE YOUR MUSIC

Radio/TV presenter Jeremie has added her voice to the need for musicians to use social media as a promotional tool instead of relying solely on radio and television. She made this known in an exclusive interview with me “I would say social media is really important because aside radio it would shock you, someone from some part of the world would hear you because you are … Jay Ghartey is a typical example when I meet him he showed me his Facebook page and he had fans from Ukraine, you know weird countries from around the world that you would never expect Japan, France.” ” It wasn’t just Ghana all around the world, Turkey and other countries and they loved his music because they are following him on Facebook and he is putting his music on there. They are able to get it, so if you focus just on Ghana radio the world can’t hear you.  You get what I mean; so social media is not just there for you to say hi I just woke up in the morning. No its there for you ...

HOW TO DEAL WITH TROLLS AS A CELEBRITY

Internet trolling is one of the many negatives celebrities who are active online have to deal with. Unlike the past where internet penetration levels were low, and a lot of people weren't online, celebrities these days wake up to daily fights with trolls. Wikipedia describes a troll as a person who sows discord on the internet by trying to start arguments and upset people. The troll’s way of upsetting a celebrity or public figure may either be by dissing them, unnecessarily comparing them to a competitor in the same field or veering off a question asked by the celebrity and go on the offensive. Weeks ago, an actress was in the news for all the wrong reasons because she insulted a supposed fan for calling her (actress) a  drag  queen. The actress took time to go through the said fan’s picture collections and re posted one describing the said fan in an equally distasteful manner. Who wins? I thought it was completely unnecessary for that, and the resultant counter-attac...

Read on to find out why she left Y FM to Live FM  “Growth and God…Growth as in I reached the point in my life where I just wanted to explore. I believe in spreading your wings and challenging yourself. I’m that kind of a person. YFM is still my family… I still go there, I still talk to everybody, I love Y FM  that’s my family but it was a life decision about me growing into a woman and trying new things. “And secondly God because I prayed about it and I put God first in everything that I do. I don’t take a step or decision or anything without God. I really prayed about it because  it’s a difficult decision. It’s not like changing clothes, it’s a life decision.  It’s a career change decision a career move decision, so I really real...
