ASA TRIUMPHS ON MISS GHANA STAGE

Nigeria music superstar Asa proved why she's a sought after artist on the world music scene when she performed for the first time in Ghana at the finale of the Miss Ghana 2012 last Saturday 10th November .  Asa appeared on stage wearing a loosely fitted white shirt ( she's short just as i am so it looked like a straight dress ) and high heels to a loud applause by the audience who were eagerly looking forward to her performance.  She started her performance with a song I' ve never heard  of  Tony of Phamous TV told me its on one of her albums, A song in the Yoruba language really nice song . She took off the heels at the early stage of her performance.
The audience except one girl who was on her feet the whole time Asa performed  had the  " we know she's good but lets wait and see ' attitude. She managed to have the audiences attention when she decided to do the world famous dance " Azonto" that started  a greater audience participation . She  performed her biggest hit in Ghana " jailer " which got the audience on their on their feet dancing , clapping and singing along ( I didnt dance though , the shy me was acting up ). After that song she almost moved off stage only to return to the excitement of the audience . She performed another hit on the Ghanaian music scene " be my man "
There were other musical  performances before Asa including that of  Sherifa Gunu , Efya and Gyedu Blay Ambolley. I missed Sherifa's performance ( I wasnt late just wanted to hang around ) . Efya I would say had a good performance except the participation by the audience was minimal , she has  a great voice  and it was my first time watching her perform live . Gyedu Blay was good but he  had the same problem as Efya . Im not sure if he wanted to irritate the audience with his Locally Acquired Foreign Accent (LAFA ) it was so unnecessary and they made that known but he kept repeating it .  Comedian Basketmouth had the auditorium exploding with laughter whenever he got on stage.

Now that we're done with the musical performances , the winner of  Miss Ghana 2012 was Carranzer Naa Okailey Shooter a medical student of the University Of Ghana  , first runner up was Nadia  Ntanu and second runner up  Jennifer Annan .  The winners of special awards include Jennifer  Annan who won the most beautiful skin and social responsibilty awards , Carranzer Naa Okailey Shooter won the top model and Miss Eloquent awards , Miss Talent went to Abena Appiah , Miss Congeniality was won by   Billey  Sung la- Bou , Miss Photogenic went to Precious  Kyei Bonsu , Miss Fitness went to Joan Ahiawordor , The Most disciplined contestant was won by Sabina Aryee  and the award for the SMS Queen ( contestant with the most texts )  was won by Roselyn Okoro , the kid sister of actress Yvonne Okoro.
There were allegations that the winner of the Miss Ghana show had already being selected and that what happened on saturday was just  format .  In a chat with Obed Boafo the publicist of Exclusive Events Ghana the  organisers of Miss Ghana about  the allegation  via Fcaebook , his respnse was
      "      won't talk about it . A winner has been crowned and that's it. . Thanks '

An observation i made was that lots of the young ladies wore very short straight dresses and  high levels , a few ladies decided to show off their boobs which werent worth looking at the second time by the way.

Miss Ghana 2012 was organised  by  Exclusive Events Ghana and supported by Manet Properties , Auto Plaza Ltd , Reflexion Hair  Care , African Cola , Fidelity Bank ,  Whirlpool , FC Skin & Beauty Klinik , Special Ice Mineral Water , Accents & Arts , TT Brothers , Eden Security , Intercom Programming & Manufacturing Company Limited (IPMC ) , Capture- Your Memory Bank , Total Fitness Health Club , ATL Fabrics , Golden Tulip Hotel , Mensvic Hotel , Travel Express Hotel , Danny's Decor , Moet and Chandon , Active Media , Amazing U , Details by Ne Yo Mi , Naadei Morgan , Poqua Poku , Anasimba by Zita , Ciba , INKA , Nubian Vogue and NDYTSI

On the whole I would  say the production  of this year's Miss Ghana was good and I had fun. The technical difficilties  with  the microphones and lightening system  need to be sorted out for a great production next year.

It does. Most of the artists in Ghana just pretend to sing/rap and when their time is up, they just move off stage.

Sarkodie's 'Ralph Lauren' Staying Power

‘Sarkodie is still the Man,’ reads the headline of a  culart.blog  review following the debut edition of his ‘This Is Tema’ concert in October 2019. The headline might be easy to dismiss but casual observers of the Ghanaian music industry will admit the past few years, especially 2019 was a difficult one for the ‘Lucky’ artiste. Going by his own standards, recent songs he’s released, which are largely considered rotation-heavy, don’t compare to the level of ‘Adonai,’ ‘you go kill me,’ ‘Illuminati’ and or ‘Original.’ In an industry where an artiste’s relevance is based on whether he or she is a hit-making factory, the two-time Ghana Music Awards ‘Artiste of the Year’ winner surprisingly hasn’t lost his star power or become a ‘victim’ of diminished relevance according to the unwritten rules of the industry he finds himself. Sarkodie still rubs shoulders with talents who are enjoying mainstream relevance like Kwesi Arthur, Kidi, Kuami Eugene, Fameye and Stonebwoy among others – w
