Ivy Quainoo is a German artiste of Ghanaian heritage. She was born to Ghanaian parents in 1992. She was winner of the Best Newcomer 2013 award at the Radio 7 Charity Night held recently.
After completing high school, she auditioned for a place in the reality show ‘The Voice of Germany, which she won in February 2012.
Her cover of the song ‘Do you like what you see ‘originally written by Djorkaeff, Beatzarre and Sylvia Gordon became popular with time and was released a week after the finale and managed to reach number two on the German charts.
During the show, she performed with The BossHoss, a country band that co-wrote and produced her debut album ‘Ivy’, released in March 2012, and which also made it to the top spot of the iTunes chart.
In October 2012, Quainoo worked with Mousse T on a soundtrack for the movie Man Tut Was Mann Kann and also recorded the song ‘Who Are You’ with Stanfour for the miniseries ‘World without End ‘.
She won the best female artist at the ECHO Awards 2013, instituted to celebrate the best of German music.
Her second album ‘Wildfires ‘was released on September 27, 2013.
Quainoo will be going on a tour of Germany in January 2014 called ‘Wildfires Live Tours ‘.
