American artiste Rihanna’s doing the South Africa ‘gwara gwara’ dance at the 2018 Grammy Awards created a lot of buzz amongst Black audience online.
Her performance of ‘Wild Thoughts’ with DJ Khaled and Bryson Tiller was backed by colourful dancers including Ghanaian Caleb Bonney, a member of dance trio A.V.O Boyz (Africa’s Very Own Boyz.)
Known as Ghana Boii in Showbiz circles, he featured in the official video of ‘Come Closer’ by Nigerian artiste, WizKid.
The 2018 Grammy Awards was held at the Madison Square Garden, New York City, New York, United States of America, and was hosted by Comedian James Corden.
There were performances by Bruno Mars and Cardi B, Elton John, SZA, DJ Khaled with Rihanna and Bryson Tiller, Childish Gambino, Lady Gaga, Logic with Alessia Cara and Khalid, and more
It was the first time since 2003 that the ceremony was held outside Los Angeles (where the Staples Center had been the home of the awards.
