A song by Grammy-nominated Ghanaian Singer and songwriter, Ruby Amanfu is featured in the trailer for ‘Self Made,’ a limited series by streaming giant, Netflix.
‘I’m a Ruler,’ written by Amanfu and Tommee Profitt reflects the story of Madam C.J Walker, America’s first empire-building, barrier-breaking, self-made female millionaire.
Scheduled to premiere on March 20, it tells “the untold and highly irreverent story of black hair care pioneer and mogul Walker (played by Octavia Spencer) and how she overcame hostile turn-of-the-century America, epic rivalries, tumultuous marriages and some trifling family to become America’s first black, self-made female millionaire.”
Carmen Ejogo, Blair Underwood, Bill Bellamy and Tiffany Haddish are other stars of the show.
