PHOTOS: 2nd GLITZ Africa Fashion Week Launched – Runs from Nov. 6-10

Organizers of the annual Glitz Africa Fashion Week 2013 have promised a better second edition. Claudia Lumor, Editor-in-Chief of Glitz Africa Magazine, a spin off of the fashion week, made this known at a launch in Accra, on Saturday. This year’s event will take place at the Accra International Conference Centre from November 6 to 10. “People should expect more designers all over the world. Last year we had about forty designers, this year we have fifty designers,” she says. This year’s, Lumor adds “is going to be an improved production from last year.” “Last year’s was the first; even that the world saw the work that was put in and Ghana’s name was up there. People were very proud of what we did for our first event. “And this year, it’s going to be even better, we have improved production, more designers. Also we are having more seminars for fashion students. And we also going to have a style lounge which is free sampling for V.I.Ps to get pampered in between shows.

Celebrity-fan dialogue channels – Vobolo, too?

The need for celebrities to be in constant touch with their fans has led to quite a number of them signing on to social media networks. Twitter, Facebook and Instagram among other mediums have come in handy as useful channels for touching base with the people who make them relevant. Vobolo , a micro voice blogging service that allows recording and sharing of voice data on Facebook and Twitter is the latest addition to the list. Some Ghanaian celebrities who have hooked on to the service include Chris Attoh, Ama K. Abebrese, Jeremie, Nana Aba Anamoah, Yvonne Nelson, Edem, Cwesi Oteng, Yvonne Okoro, Efya, Cwesi Oteng, and Deborah Vanessa. It is good business, considering the number of known figures signing onto it.  But were lies its future? Before Vobolo was Keek, and before the latter were some other ones, which have since gone into  hiding . The answers surely can be found in just how serious some of these celebrities treat the subject of fan-engagement.

Social media is also there, you are able to check who and who are listening and then we ask around. And I think I’ve done well
