Organizers of the annual Glitz Africa Fashion Week 2013 have promised a better second edition.
Claudia Lumor, Editor-in-Chief of Glitz Africa Magazine, a spin off of the fashion week, made this known at a launch in Accra, on Saturday.
This year’s event will take place at the Accra International Conference Centre from November 6 to 10.
“People should expect more designers all over the world. Last year we had about forty designers, this year we have fifty designers,” she says. This year’s, Lumor adds “is going to be an improved production from last year.”
“Last year’s was the first; even that the world saw the work that was put in and Ghana’s name was up there. People were very proud of what we did for our first event.
“And this year, it’s going to be even better, we have improved production, more designers. Also we are having more seminars for fashion students. And we also going to have a style lounge which is free sampling for V.I.Ps to get pampered in between shows.
“There is going to be awards, different categories of awards this year as well. And also the days have been changed from three days to five days. So its five days of fashion, African story being told to the world so we really looking forward to it.”
Glitz Africa Fashion Week (GAFW) is tailored to provide the platform for Africa’s Fashion Industry to showcase its talents, network, celebrate each other and expose them to uncharted markets.
It offers vast opportunities for designers to showcase their brand to thousands of visitors including fashion buyers, retailers, local and international press, as well as increase visibility and promotion
